Exciting news about our new School Resource Officer! IAS Alum Officer Clausen from the Ironwood Public Safety Department and Deputy Graser from the Gogebic County Sheriff's Department took part in the TEAM program offered through the Michigan State Police, a program designed to provide comprehensive training for officers who will be supporting schools. The TEAM program trains officers in Teaching, Educating, And Mentoring within schools. Ironwood Area Schools has a long established partnership with Ironwood Public Safety Department and we look forward to the next chapter in this highly supportive and mutually beneficial story with Officer Clausen. Look for more information as the new program develops!

Check out this physics project from Mr. Lyons' class! Students had to design, construct, and test a vehicle powered by one mousetrap. The goal was to have the car travel 20 feet, stop, and then travel back to the starting line as quickly as possible. Excellent work, students!

The Luther L. Wright High School Band had the distinct privilege of attending the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra performance at the Overture Center for the Arts this past weekend. Under the musical direction of world-class trumpeter and educator Wynton Marsalis, the program entitled "Middle East Meditations" included compositions featuring virtuoso oud player Naseer Shamma. Referred to as "an unprecedented fusion between Jazz and the Oud instrument", this program was a special performance to witness, and one that students thoroughly enjoyed. A very sincere thank you to everyone who made this trip possible!
