Ironwood's School Resource Officer, Collin Clausen, participated in a 3 point challenge against our 7-12 counselor, Paul Zysk. Officer Clausen won the challenge 8 to 6 in overtime!

A final thanks to Donnie Maki, of DM Services for organizing the donation of wood from Forslunds Building Supply. We received almost 200 board feet of pine, which our 3rd and 4th hour Woodworking students used to make Adirondack chairs.
A big thank you to Gus Forslund (Forslunds Building Supply), Jerry Synkelma (Ameriprise), Red Richards (Red Construction), Joe Pisco (Pisco Roofing and Siding), Jeff Wessenberg (Sawdust Bin Inc) and Donnie Maki (DM Services) for contributing to the donation. The kids did great work!
Red Devils in the News!
Today the 4th grade students learned about physical weathering. They took sugar cubes and marbles and simulated what happens in nature to the geosphere. Looks like a "sweet" project!
You never know who you might find hanging around Ironwood! Mrs. Kariainen's crew of art students will be adding to our décor over the next week. Stay tuned for more creativity!

Today is the birthday of the author, Theodor Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss! The Cat in the Hat will continue to visit classes today and tomorrow to read books to students. Mrs. Rubatt's class enjoyed The Cat in the Hat yesterday!

It's Dr. Seuss week! A very special guest has been walking around the school reading books to classes. The Cat in the Hat came to read Dr. Seuss's ABC book to Mrs. Boyd's class today!
It was a beautiful day to cross country ski at Wolverine Ski Trails! Jackie and Shanelle from Ottawa National Forest, along with Sue Trull, led the 2nd grade classes on the trails yesterday. They taught the students about the different types of trees they saw along the way. Kathy Bauer and Laurie Celeski from the MSU Extension gave the students a SNAP Education lesson after skiing. They also provided the students with a healthy snack. Thank you to all of the helpers who make this possible each week for our students!
