It's National Administrative Professionals' Week! We are thankful to have the best at Ironwood!
Throwback Thursday!
The National Honor Society was formed in 1921 “to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate desire for service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of character in the high school pupils in the nation.” Ironwood High School received its charter in 1922 and is one of the oldest in the nation. Election to this society is a very high honor. This year’s NHS Induction Ceremony was held yesterday, on April 17th. Our congratulations to our current members of the National Honor Society of Luther L. Wright. We are proud of you and you joined a long and distinguished tradition! An original Ironwood Area Schools Sauna Stove, was built by students in Mrs. Stehlik's Advanced Metal Fabrication class. Tristan Laabs built the body of the stove, Dale Eades fabricated the door assembly and Talan Harju mastered TIG welding stainless steel to fabricate a water tank for the stove. These guys are very talented, and work very well together. The stove lives at the Laabs' residence now, in the family sauna. IHS welding students will complete 2 more Sauna Stoves this semester.
Mason Oesau, who is enrolled in both Advanced Woodworking and Advanced Metal Fabrication recently completed a rolling cart for the Makerspace, it will support the schools new T-Shirt press. Thanks to all of these students for their skill and excellent work ethic. They are constantly busy!

Our 6th graders created art projects as an alternative assessment for the memoir, “Woodsong'' by Gary Paulsen. We studied this memoir, as well as the Iditarod Sled Dog Race, for a substantial portion of quarter 3. The goal of this project is to capture the raw beauty, challenges, and spiritual connection to nature depicted in the book and the Iditarod, focusing on a student selected scenes that embody the essence of being immersed in nature.
To bring these scenes to life, the students were allowed to employ a variety of artistic mediums and techniques that would depict the beauty and sense of wonder experienced by Paulsen and his dogs in “Woodsong” in a creative way.
Congratulations to the eWallet winner, Lucas, who gets $20 to spend at the book fair this week!
