Mrs. Headley’s first grade got the chance to decorate pumpkins this Thursday. Mr. Bunt’s sixth grade came down to help out. Everyone had a blast painting pumpkins! 🎃

Ironwood Teacher Selected For Honors Program
Darin Schmidt, music teacher at the Luther L. Wright School in Ironwood, was selected to coach the percussion section for the Wisconsin State Music Association Middle School Honors Band. Mr. Schmidt will join other section coaches to help prepare Wisconsin’s top students for a concert at the Wisconsin State Music Conference on October 28. Mr. Schmidt holds a Master of Music Degree from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University-Bloomington, where he majored in conducting and minored in percussion performance.

Thank you to the Class of 1989 for donating books to classrooms! Mrs. Tarnaski's class received 4 books on social/emotional well-being. 6 adolescent books were donated to Mrs. Pawlak's room, and multiple books were donated to the 5th grade to add to their new reading curriculum!

The 7th grade Current Events class took a field trip to The Globe on Friday, October 20th. The students met with Larry Holcombe, Editor, and Jacob Vallejo, Advertising Director. They took a tour, where they had fun learning about The Globe!
Mrs. Wangelin’s kindergarten students created fizzy monsters in class Friday. They had to correctly answer beginning sound questions to earn pieces to their fizzy monsters. Once they earned all of the necessary parts, they had some fun watching their monsters fizz and POP!
A huge shout out goes to the Ironwood Area Sports Hall of Fame for the generous donations towards the weight room and the sound system last month!
Mrs. Stehlik, our shop teacher, applied and was selected for a grant from the Marquette Builders Exchange. The MBA presented Ironwood with a check for $2000 dollars to purchase some new machinery for the shop program. While they were here, they talked to students enrolled in our woodworking classes about their apprenticeship opportunities. Thank you for the support and the information about the program!

High School Band students from Ironwood, Bessemer, and Wakefield schools spent the day rehearsing a collaboration halftime show. Students learned marching fundamentals and added coordinated movements to music. This halftime show will be featured during Friday's home football game vs. the Miners. Thank you to all schools, staff, and directors that were involved to make this great experience possible for our students!
